A Few Rare Things
If you traveled back to the 80s and told someone that many people don’t read books, someone’s full attention feels like a gift, and that boredom doesn’t exist, they’d probably be surprised.
Hey friends! It’s been a busy week, but here are my favorite finds from the week along with a few short ideas.
✍️ Quote of the Week
“Having less means having less to anesthetize you to your life.” - Mohsin Hamid
😂 Pranks I Can’t Get Enough Of
Anything from Steven Schapiro, BigDawsTV, or ThatWasEpic are bound to give me a good laugh. Something about great acting and social experiments is fascinating to me. Here’s my favorite:
🖼️ Framework
Jeff Bezos’ Regret Minimization Framework. As Julian Shapiro summarizes it:
“What choices can you make today that minimize the regret you’ll feel as an 80-year-old looking back on your life?”
Things That Seem Incredibly Rare Today
People who read.
Giving someone your undivided attention.
Boredom and solitude.

The internet has changed the world for the better, but like anything else, has its unintended consequences.
Instead of scrolling through social media, I encourage you to try a few things:
Read something that wasn’t created in the last year (From Nat Eliason on Twitter).
Give someone the gift of your undivided attention.
Take the time to sit down and just think. No distractions, and maybe a journal to write down some thoughts. You’d be surprised at how valuable this experience is.
Cheers,
Baxter
